A recent photo contest crowned “cutest pet” winners—and honored their incredible rescue stories. The third annual Bissell Homecare Inc. “Most Valuable Pet” Contest has crowned its three winners. And although these beautiful honorees are among the cutest pets in America, their survival and rescue stories make them truly inspiring. The contest was flooded with entries from coast to coast, as owners sent in pictures and shared the individual stories of their beloved pets. Out of these submissions, three emerged as true winners. The third-place winner of the contest is Bianca, a Marbled Bengal cat. Bianca’s owner, Marcia, says that she was instantly captivated by Bianca from the moment she saw her. Bianca immediately stood out amongst the ten other kittens in her litter, and her precise fur patterns truly do make her look like a piece of fine art. Bianca’s hobbies include zooming around the house with her paw-tner in crime, Bela, and playing with her feather toys. Bianca is also a very affectionate cat who loves to be pampered in Marcia’s lap. Marcia’s love for her cat Marcia, and for Marbled Bengals, has led her to work closely with the Bengal Rescue Networks foster caregivers; she is donating her $1,000 prize money to this organization. Marcia has also started a worldwide Bengal forum on www.Bengalchatter.com The second-place winner, Rainbow Diamond (pictured), was rescued from a puppy mill where she had been living paralyzed in a bathtub. Her current owner, Holly, specializes in rehabilitating traumatized animals, and took in Rainbow Diamond initially for foster care. But Rainbow Diamond soon became a part of Holly’s family. Rainbow Diamond responded to her treatments very quickly and can now run, play, and tear up paper pain-free with the best of them! Rainbow Diamond's $5,000 prize is being donated to the organization that rescued her, the Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas ( www.ddrtx.org ). Rainbow Diamond is also now a spokes-dog for the DDRTX anti-puppy mill campaign, designed to educate people about the humane treatment of animals.
